International Blues Challenge
June 24, 2017 at 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Presented by The Capital Region Blues Network
Come be part of the audience that helps vote to send a local band to Memphis
For the past 33 years in January the Memphis based Blues Foundation hosts The International Blues challenge. The International Blues Challenge is an international search by The Blues Foundation and its Affiliated Organizations (of which our own Capital Region Blues Network is one) for the Blues Band and Solo/Duo Blues Act ready to perform on a national stage, but just need that extra break. Each Affiliate of The Blues Foundation has the right to send a band and solo/duo act to represent the organization at the IBC Semi-Finals on Beale Street in Memphis, TN.
Amy Ryan Band
Melding together singer Amy Ryan’s country blues mojo and guitarist Richard Green’s urban blues and rock sensibilities the Amy Ryan Band is rounded out by bassist Steve Dietemann, drummer Al Bauman and keyboardist Ed Stein whose jazz, funk and rock capabilities make a great contribution to the band. With a repertoire that includes band adaptations of Amy’s self-penned solo tunes, newly minted originals and select covers the Amy Ryan Band rocks the blues.
Sly Fox & The Hustlers
New York’s Sly Fox and the Hustlers are a high energy Original Blues Rock Band that has shared the stage with National Recording Artists – Blues Traveler, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and Robin Trower among others.
The band has been described as “Heavy Voodoo Blues over Swampy Funky Grooves” and has built a reputation of putting on high energy shows with songs sung with an emotional delivery from the heart of their originator.

Wyld is well known for soulful vocals and driving, high-energy performances that take traditional blues & boogie in a new direction. Blues-driven guitar power and passionate vocal fury, funk-laced driving rhythmic attacks and fiery, ardent sax & harp form a uniquely dynamic edge that defines the band’s compelling sound and soul. Alana Wyld is a featured artist on the Live Aid International vinyl release, American Blues, and currently in process of producing a debut album. Wyld Blu performs regularly at numerous venues, festivals & events throughout the NY/Tri-State area & surrounding regions as the fully outfitted electric lineup and as an acoustic duo.
