We are very pleased to announce that this year, we are collaborating with The Linda WAMC’s Performing Arts Studio to present these monthly programs. All programs will be at The Linda WAMC’s Performing Arts Studio, 339 Central Avenue, Albany, NY 12208 (Free parking is available)

Protecting the Adirondacks: Verplank Colvin and the Environmentalists Who Followed: The program begins with a beautiful 30 minute film , “Colvin: Hero To The North”, about surveyor Verplank Colvin’s efforts to map the Adirondacks, and his legislative activism which resulted in the inclusion, in 1894, of the “forever wild” protection of the Adirondacks in the New York State Constitution. Following the film, David Gibson, a partner in the organization, “Adirondack Wild: Friends of the Forest Preserve,” will provide a vivid account of the environmental turmoil that ensued, and the environmentalists who followed to protect the protections for the Adirondacks set forth in the Constitution.
