“Fever Pitch” with Taína Asili

January 27 at 7:00 pm 9:00 pm

Join us for Fever Pitch, a work-in-progress presentation of Taína Asili’s groundbreaking multimedia show on climate justice. Set to captivate audiences at The Linda Performing Arts Center on January 27th at 7:00 PM, Fever Pitch is rooted in Asili’s prolific two-decade artistic journey creating music that addresses the intersectional issues related to the urgency of climate change. Immerse yourself in a one-hour multimedia tapestry that seamlessly blends live music, dance, and projections. Asili’s music, performed by talented musicians Gaetano Vaccaro, JoBeth Umali, and Gabby Canzeri, harmonizes with choreography crafted by Gregory Theodore Marsh, guiding the magical movements of dancers Hettie Barnhill and Eliana Rowe. Adding visual depth, the show weaves a mesmerizing kaleidoscope of original footage drawn from Asili’s videos. There will be a post-show conversation to follow.

About the Artist: Taína Asili is an Albany-based Puerto Rican singer, composer, interdisciplinary artist, and activist carrying on the tradition of her ancestors, fusing past and present struggles into one soulful and defiant voice. Asili’s Afro-Latin fusion sound of love and liberation has inspired audiences at venues across the globe – From the Women’s March on Washington to Carnegie Hall to the mainstage of San Francisco Pride. Her freedom anthems and music videos inspired by social movements for racial, gender, and climate justice have been lauded by the likes of Rolling Stone, Billboard, and NPR. With powerful vocals and infectious beats, Asili’s music urges people to dance to the rhythm of rebellion.

This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by The Arts Center of the Capital Region.
