Bio:

Based in Troy, NY, pianist/keyboardist Sophia Subbayya Vastek defies easy categorization. Moving between musical worlds, she has been described as “a wonder” and “audacious” (Inactuelles), and as performing with “passion and profound tenderness” (Second Inversion) and “serene strokes and lyrical beauty” (Brooklyn Rail). With the piano as her foundation, Sophia’s music-making draws on ambient/electronic music as well as her classical background. Her debut album “Histories” was released on innova Recordings in 2017, produced by multiple Grammy-winning engineer Adam Abeshouse. She has since released the EP “Lili”, as well as several recordings spanning genres in collaboration with her partner Sam Torres. She is a co-founder of Organ Colossal, a nonprofit that produces and curates musical events with the aim of supporting local musicians. She is also one half of Tilted Arc, a synth and piano-based electronic duo. Sophia has performed internationally across three continents, as well as extensively in the northeastern United States.

We at The Linda realize that the impacts of COVID-19 have been dire for working musicians and the music industry as a whole. The goal of this series is to help restart the local music economy by bringing a wide array of eclectic and diverse, local and regional musicians back to the stage in a safe environment and to provide fans with a professionally produced concert delivered directly to their homes via YouTube stream. Similar to some of our in-person concerts, the virtual concerts are ticketed events and just like all concerts at The Linda, the productions will be of the highest quality visibly and audibly.

-The virtual concerts will take place every Monday night at 8 pm.

-A private link to the live stream will be provided 2 hours prior to the virtual concert and will be available for 24 hours.
