Tony Furtado Trio featuring Matt Flinner & Luke Price

May 14 at 8:00 pm 10:00 pm

Tony Furtado is bringing his acoustic trio to New York and Pennsylvania for a 6 date tour. The trio features world-renowned mandolinist Matt Flinner (mattflinner.com) and 5 time National Fiddle Champion Luke Price (instagram.com/lukeplusrach). Together the three will perform music fueled by Furtado’s latest release, Decembering, as well as old favorites from his deep discography. They will also take this opportunity to shake out a few new songs Furtado is preparing to get to work on in the studio.

Tony Furtado is an evocative and soulful singer, a wide-ranging songwriter, and a virtuoso multi-instrumentalist adept on slide guitar, banjo (twice national banjo champion), cello-banjo, and baritone ukulele who mixes and matches sounds and styles with the flair of a master chef (he’s also an accomplished sculptor, but that’s another story). All of the music of America is in Tony’s music. Relix hit the nail on the head when writing of Tony: “True talent doesn’t need categories.”

Luke Price is the current (and 5-time) Grand National Fiddle Champion. Luke graduated from the prestigious Berklee College of Music and is half of an amazing Indie-Soul duo with his wife, “Love, DEAN”.

Also joining the trio is multi-instrumentalist Matt Flinner is a Grammy-nominated mandolinist and has made a career out of playing bluegrass and American roots music in new ways. Hailed by Downbeat Magazine as “one of the best mandolin players ever,” Flinner has established a reputation as one of the most respected composers and innovators in modern American acoustic
music. His projects and collaborations range from bluegrass to jazz to classical to New Acoustic music, all with the common thread of American roots music with a creative edge..He has become recognized as one of the premier mandolinists as well as one of the finest new acoustic/roots music composers today.
“Tony Furtado is a major musical force without a doubt. He has his black belt in voice, bottleneck
guitar, and his banjo playing scares the crap out of me.” – David Lindley
